This page relates ‘Shiva as Triguna’ of the study on the Rudra-Shiva concept in the Vedic and Puranic literature, starting with the concept of God as contemplated by the Rishis (Vedic sages). Śiva is present in three different forms. That is why he is called Triguṇa.[1] In the Śiva Purāṇa, it is said that he is divided into three guṇas. That is why he is referred to as Triguṇa. Since he has divided himself into four, he is called Caturvyūha.[2]
