This page relates ‘2.34.Shiva as Nandi’ of the study on the Rudra-Shiva concept in the Vedic and Puranic literature, starting with the concept of God as contemplated by the Rishis (Vedic sages). Śilāda, a Brāhmaṇa worshipped Śiva for getting a son,[1] who will not be born of human and will be free from death like Śiva.[2] Śiva was pleased with his ardent prayer and took birth as his (Śilāda’s) son by the name of Nandī.[3]
