Śiva eradicates Nṛsiṃha’s pride taking the form of a huge bird, Śarabha.[1] He reduced to ashes a salacious demon, Mūḍa. He is well disposed towards his worshippers.[2] Lord Śiva is said to be the Śaraṇāgatavatsala or one who is the shelter of his devotees, Dīnabandhu or the friend of the poor people and the protector of the worshippers.[3]
