Thus according to Medhātithi repetition of word Upasprsya is meaningful
Sequence
and it shows the immediate secrevence as its purpose. Medhätithi also
1 understands II.53 as a case of Anuvada in interpreting the expression
'Nityam' in the first line and 'Samyag' in second line.
2 (Kulluka however, treats this as case of Anuvads whose purpose is to
lay down the subsidiary act (Gunavidhi).From this it is evident that he
differs førom Medhātithi in Minansa technical terms and also holds that
the Anuvada is also purposeful. Possibly in this respect his approach to
the term Anuvada is in agreement with the view point of writers on

Nyāyasastra and Alankara-sastra).
