The Markandeyapurana commences with the questions raised by Rishi Jaimini (a pupil of Vyasa), who approaches the sage Markandeya with doubts related to the Mahabharata. This study examines various social topics such as the status of women, modes of worship, yoga, etc.

General Outfits

There are additional things like upavīta i.e. sacred thread, stoff, shoes, umbrella found in the Mārkaṇḍeyapurāṇa, as general personal outfits. Shoes and sacred thread are prohibited to use if it were once used by other person.[1] Those who donate umbrella, shoes, clothes and food they can pass the road to the abode of Yama with ease.[2]
