Kavyamimamsa of Rajasekhara (Study)

This page relates ‘Rajashekhara’s Prashasti’ of the English study on the Kavyamimamsa of Rajasekhara: a poetical encyclopedia from the 9th century dealing with the ancient Indian science of poetics and rhetoric (also know as alankara-shastra). The Kavya-mimamsa is written in eighteen chapters representing an educational framework for the poet (kavi) and instructs him in the science of applied poetics for the sake of making literature and poetry (kavya).

Part 19 - Rājaśekhara’s Praśasti

To see the prolific wisdom of Rājaśekhara many of the follower poets in their works dedicated many verses for the praise of him.

Those are:

yāyāvaraḥ prāñjavaro guṇaiñjarāśaṃsitaḥ sūktisamājavaryaiḥ |
nṛtyatyudāraṃ bhaṇite rasasthā naṭīva yasyoḍharasā padaśrīḥ
|| ”

babhūva valmīkabhavaḥ purā kavistataḥ prapede bhuvi bhartṛmeṇṭhatām |
sthitaḥ punaryo bhavabhūtire khayā sa vartate samprati rājaśekharaḥ
|| ”

pātuṃ karṇarasayanaṃ racayituṃ vācaṃ satāṃ sammatām
  vyutpattiṃ paramāmavāptumavadhiṃ labdhuṃ rasastrotasaḥ |
bhoktuṃ svāduphalaṃ ca jīvitataroryadyasti te kautukaṃ
  tad bhrātaḥ śrṛṇu rājaśekharakaveḥ sūktīḥ sudhāsyandinīḥ
|| ”

karṇāṭīdaśanāṅkitaḥ śitamahārāṣṭrīkaṭākṣāhataḥ
  prauḍhāndhrīstanapīḍitaḥ praṇayinībhrūbhaṅgavitrāsitaḥ |
lāṭībāhuviveṣṭitaśca malayastrītarjanītarjitaḥ
  soyaṃ samprati rājaśekharakaviḥ vārāṇasīṃ vācchati
|| ”

samādhiguṇaśālinyaḥ prasannaparipaktrimāḥ |
yāyāvarakavervāco munīnāmiva vṛttayaḥ
|| ”

-Dhanapāla: Tilakamañjari- 33

saujanyāṅku rakanda sundarakathāsarvasva sīmantinī-cittākraṣaṇamantra
  manmathasaritkallola vāgvallabha |
saubhāgyaikaniveśa peśalagirāmādhāra dhairyāmbudhe
  dharmādidruma rājaśekhara sakhe ! dṛṣṭo'si yāmo vayam
|| ”
