This page relates ‘Lineages of Druhya’ of the study on the historical elements of the Matsya-purana: one of the eighteen Mahapuranas which are Sanskrit texts that have preserved the cultural heritage, philosophy, religion, geography, etc of ancient India. This Matsyapurana was originally written in 20,000 verses and deals with topics such as architecture, ancient history, polity, religion and philosophy.

Lineages of Druhya
The fourth son of Yayāti, Druhya had two sons named Setu and Ketu. Setu had a son named Śaradvān and his son was Gāndhāra by whose name the huge Gāndhā district is famous. Gāndhāra’s son was Dharma and his son was Dhṛta. From Dhṛta Viduṣaka was born and Pracetā was born by Viduṣaka. Pracetā had hundred sons who were all kings. All of them were king of Mleccha kingdoms in the North direction.[1]
