This study deals with the reconstructed text of the Devala-smriti based on surviving references, emphasizing Devala’s unique viewpoints on social, religious, and philosophical aspects, particularly the Sankhya and Yoga philosophies.

· kalpa a's 037 The present reconstructed text of Devalasmrti contains totally
2556 sutras & verses (2475 of the Devalasmrti-text + 81 of the
Parisista of Devala on Jyotisa). They are arranged in three main
adhyayas of acara, vyavahāra & prāyascitta (+parisista on Jyotisa).
The total number of the sutras & verses in each of these three
adhyayas, is 1530, 83 & 862 respectively.
The above three main adhyayas are also sub-divided in
separate chapters, called prakaranas. The total number of
prakaranas in the acara adhyaya is twelve, that in the vyavahara
adhyaya is four, & that in the prayascitta adhyāya is six. The
1 parisista on Jyotisa also contains four different sections or
prakaranas.

sutras & verses contained in each of them are mentioned below:
