This page relates ‘Madhavanidana (Ayurveda book)’ found in the study on diseases and remedies found in the Atharvaveda and Charaka-samhita. Mādhavanidāna (Āyurveda book)

Mādhavanidāna, written by Ācārya Indukara's son Mādhavakara, is a famous ancient text of Āyurveda. The book was written in the seventh century. Mādhavakara mentions Vāgvaṭṭa's words in this text.

Describing the greatness of this book, the later Ācāryas said—

nidāne mādhava śreṣṭhaḥ |

This book is included in Laghutrayī.

The book is divided into two parts—Mādhavanidāna I and Mādhavanidāna II. There are sixty-nine chapters in this book and at the end the book ends with another chapter called Biṣayānukramanikā.
