Chapter 2.2 - The Trimurtis

It is said that the Trimurtis are born from Vishnu who has been formed by the action of Caitanya in the Five Elements. In the universe made up of the Five Elements, there was, in the beginning, vast levels of water. In that water, Vishnu, taking the form of a child, lying in a fig leaf, began to think like this: “Who am I? How was I created? Why was I created? What am I supposed to do?”

As Vishnu was thinking of these things, he heard a sound from heaven: “I am from the very beginning. There is nothing that has been from the beginning except me. Everything is me.”Vishnu continued meditating upon these words he heard. At that time Mahadevi appeared to him and said to him, “Hey Vishnu, right from the time this universe had sriishti-sthiti-laya’ qualities, you too existed because of the effect of Nirguna Brahma that is Adi Parashakti. You know that Adi Parashakti is above and beyond all qualities.

All of us are with qualities. Vishnu has the highest of all qualities. From your midriff the noblest Brahma will be born. From the midriff of that Brahma Mahadeva will be born with all the power of Tamas. This way Brahma earned the power of creation through hard meditation and then he created the earth with the colour of blood. Vishnu himself became the protector of this newly created earth and at the end of Ages, in the Kalpantakala, Mahadeva ruins the earth. This way, Mahadevi is the virtuous power that pleads with Vishnu for the protection of the earth.[1]
