A king of Mithilā. The kings of Mithilā were commonly called Janaka. Devarāta was called Devarāta Janaka. (See Janaka).

Genealogy.

From Viṣṇu descended thus:—Brahmā,-BhṛguCyavanaŪrvaṚcīka—Devarāta (Śunaśśepha). (For details see Śunaśśepha).
