223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.215.14

imāṃ purā mokṣamayīṃ vicārya susaṃhitāṃ sadvacanādviriñcaḥ |
prayuktavānetadacintyarūpo bhavantyasatyāśca na tasya vācaḥ || 14 ||

It was at first that the god Brahma of unknowable form, had composed this work in his excellent diction; and then considering it as the only means to the liberation of mankind, had revealed it to the assemblage of saints (of which Vasishtha or Valmiki has made this version). Let nobody therefore take the truthfulness of this saying for an untruth.
