The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पश्यन्ति बन्धवोऽप्येनं तथैवामरतां गतम् ।
द्वयमित्येष लभते जीवितं मरणं समम् ॥ १७ ॥

paśyanti bandhavo'pyenaṃ tathaivāmaratāṃ gatam |
dvayamityeṣa labhate jīvitaṃ maraṇaṃ samam || 17 ||

In this manner the relatives of the deceased, find his pure soul, to obtain its immortality after his death; and that life and death are indifferent to the virtuous and purified person.
