The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पूर्वे तस्यामभूद्राजा प्रज्ञप्तिरिति विश्रुतः ।
अनुरक्तजगद्भूतः शक्रः स्वर्ग इवापरः ॥ ५ ॥

pūrve tasyāmabhūdrājā prajñaptiriti viśrutaḥ |
anuraktajagadbhūtaḥ śakraḥ svarga ivāparaḥ || 5 ||

There formerly reigned a prince, known by the name of Prajnapti; who ruled on earth as the god Indra in heaven; and to whom this earth or land paid its homage.
