Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.205.9

एतस्मिन्नेव तेनाथ स्वभावकचने तते ।
चिद्रूपेण कृताः संज्ञाः पृथक्पृथ्व्यादिका इमाः ॥ ९ ॥

etasminneva tenātha svabhāvakacane tate |
cidrūpeṇa kṛtāḥ saṃjñāḥ pṛthakpṛthvyādikā imāḥ || 9 ||

It is thus the different views, of the same internal thought and ideas, have different names and appellations, given to them by the very intellect itself; the finer and purer ones being called as thoughts, and the grosser ones, as sensible and material objects.
