Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.192.15

कुत आसीदिति मुने नात्र प्रश्नो विराजते ।
सत एव विचारेण लाभो भवति नासतः ॥ १५ ॥

kuta āsīditi mune nātra praśno virājate |
sata eva vicāreṇa lābho bhavati nāsataḥ || 15 ||

It is improper in this place to raise the question, regarding whence this bug bear of error could rise among mankind; since it is evident from our own reasoning, that there is no such thing as avidya or ignorance (which is the cause of error) ever in existence, nor an asat or not being even in being.
