The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीराम उवाच ।
आदितो यदनुत्पन्नं न संभवति कर्हिचित् ।
असद्रूपमनाभासं कथं तदनुभूयते ॥ ७४ ॥

śrīrāma uvāca |
ādito yadanutpannaṃ na saṃbhavati karhicit |
asadrūpamanābhāsaṃ kathaṃ tadanubhūyate || 74 ||

Rama rejoined:—Whatever is not produced in the beginning, can not of course exist at any time; but how is it, that this unreal and unapparent nothing, could come to produce in us its conception of a something?
