The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीराम उवाच ।
ज्ञानस्य ज्ञेयता भिन्ना त्वन्तः केति मुने वद ।
उत्पाद्यो ज्ञानशब्दश्च भावे वा करणेऽथ किम् ॥ ६ ॥

śrīrāma uvāca |
jñānasya jñeyatā bhinnā tvantaḥ keti mune vada |
utpādyo jñānaśabdaśca bhāve vā karaṇe'tha kim || 6 ||

Rama rejoined:—Tell me sir, whether the knowableness of knowledge, that is whether the internal knowledge of the knowing soul, is the same or separate from itself; and whether the word jnana or knowledge, is taken in its instrumental or abstract sense.
