The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

बोधादविद्यमानत्वादविद्येत्युच्यते बुधैः ।
इत्यादिकलनस्यास्य नामानि कथितानि ते ॥ ८ ॥

bodhādavidyamānatvādavidyetyucyate budhaiḥ |
ityādikalanasyāsya nāmāni kathitāni te || 8 ||

Being absent from or imperceptible to our perception, it is called the hidden nature; and in this manner many other fictitious names are given to it by way of fiction or fabrication of our imagination.
