The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

आदिमत्त्वमिदं प्रोक्तमेतस्य कलनस्य यत् ।
परस्मादद्वितीयं तत्त्वद्बोधाय न वास्तवम् ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
ādimattvamidaṃ proktametasya kalanasya yat |
parasmādadvitīyaṃ tattvadbodhāya na vāstavam || 1 ||

Vasishtha continued:—The fiction of the first rise of the living soul; from the calm and quiet spirit of God as said before, is merely fictitious and not a true one; but was meant to elucidate the nature of the animate soul, as the same with and not distinct from the Supreme soul.
