223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.184.8

न स्वभावा न चैवार्थाः सन्ति सर्वात्मकोचिते ।
सर्गादौ कचितं रूपं यद्यथा तत्तथा स्थितम् ॥ ८ ॥

na svabhāvā na caivārthāḥ santi sarvātmakocite |
sargādau kacitaṃ rūpaṃ yadyathā tattathā sthitam || 8 ||

As a Hill seen in dream is no hill at all, and as things appearing to be in motion in dreaming, are found afterwards to be perfectly motionless; so are all things in nature but mere unrealities, and though as real from the real nature of soul itself.
