The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

कुन्ददन्त उवाच ।
इत्युक्तवानसौ पृष्टः कदम्बतलतापसः ।
सप्तद्वीपा भुवोऽष्टौ ताः कथं भाता गृहेष्विति ॥ १ ॥

kundadanta uvāca |
ityuktavānasau pṛṣṭaḥ kadambatalatāpasaḥ |
saptadvīpā bhuvo'ṣṭau tāḥ kathaṃ bhātā gṛheṣviti || 1 ||

Kundadanta said:—I then asked [the] devotee sitting beneath the kadamba tree, to tell me how the seven large continents of the globe, could be contained within the narrow limits of the abodes of each of these brothers.
