The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

शापस्थानका वदिष्यन्ति ।
सप्तद्वीपेशजीवानां निर्याणं शवसद्मनः ।
देवेश विद्मो न वयमन्धकूपादिवाम्भसाम् ॥ ४ ॥

śāpasthānakā vadiṣyanti |
saptadvīpeśajīvānāṃ niryāṇaṃ śavasadmanaḥ |
deveśa vidmo na vayamandhakūpādivāmbhasām || 4 ||

How could they that had the boon on one hand, and its contrary curse on the other, go in either way which are opposed to one another, as the cool shade of trees and the heat of sunshine?
