The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.175.5

मलस्त्वेषोऽपरिज्ञातः परिज्ञातः परं भवेत् ।
कुतः किल परे व्योमन्यनादिनिधने मलः ॥ ५ ॥

malastveṣo'parijñātaḥ parijñātaḥ paraṃ bhavet |
kutaḥ kila pare vyomanyanādinidhane malaḥ || 5 ||

So long as this is unknown, the world appears as a gross substance; but being known as contained in the Divine spirit, it becomes a spiritual substance also; because how is it possible for any gross matter, to attach itself to the transcendent vacuum, of which there is no beginning and end?
