The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.172.22

अविद्यमानं भातीव यथा दृश्यं तथा स्थितिः ।
भातैवाविद्यमानैव मृगतृष्णा यथोद्यता ॥ २२ ॥

avidyamānaṃ bhātīva yathā dṛśyaṃ tathā sthitiḥ |
bhātaivāvidyamānaiva mṛgatṛṣṇā yathodyatā || 22 ||

And as anything which is absent or inexistent, appears visible (by error) before our sight, like the false appearance of water in the mirage: such is the case with our misleading memory also.
