The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.169.23

दुष्कृतैः कृतपाथेयो लुठन्क्षीणः पदे पदे ।
अर्थानर्थमयैर्मार्गैः संकटैर्विवशीकृतः ॥ २३ ॥

duṣkṛtaiḥ kṛtapātheyo luṭhankṣīṇaḥ pade pade |
arthānarthamayairmārgaiḥ saṃkaṭairvivaśīkṛtaḥ || 23 ||

Here we are robbed of our passport and passage money, by the highway men of our sins and sensualities; till we are overcome by our weakness, and exposed to numberless dangers and difficulties on the way.
