The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

भित्तिमात्रं यथा चित्रजगदालोकमात्रकम् ।
चिति चिद्व्योममात्रात्म तथैवाभासमात्रकम् ॥ ६ ॥

bhittimātraṃ yathā citrajagadālokamātrakam |
citi cidvyomamātrātma tathaivābhāsamātrakam || 6 ||

As a picture is nothing except its canvas, so the world which is no more than a painting, is drawn on the substratum of the intellect; and this is a vacuous substance, with the lustre of the world in it.
