The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

संवित्प्रयत्नसंबोधनिशिताङ्कुशकर्षणैः ।
मनोमतङ्गजं मत्तं जित्वा जयति नान्यथा ॥ ५ ॥

saṃvitprayatnasaṃbodhaniśitāṅkuśakarṣaṇaiḥ |
manomataṅgajaṃ mattaṃ jitvā jayati nānyathā || 5 ||

Let the strength of your consciousness, ply the pointed goad of your acute good sense; and you will doubtless subdue your ungovernable elephantine mind, and come off victorious shortly at last.
