The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अहो बत नराः क्रूरा गतिः कैषां भविष्यति ।
कुर्वन्ति कर्दमोन्मग्ने नात्मन्यपि निजोदयम् ॥ २३ ॥

aho bata narāḥ krūrā gatiḥ kaiṣāṃ bhaviṣyati |
kurvanti kardamonmagne nātmanyapi nijodayam || 23 ||

Woe to the ignorant! that will not seek their salvation in life; that are sinking in the pits of mud and mire; and never striving to lift themselves above them.
