The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

जीवस्त्यजति यद्भावे एकां देहमयीं धियम् ।
तद्भावैकमयीमन्यामाशु तत्रैव पश्यति ॥ ४१ ॥

jīvastyajati yadbhāve ekāṃ dehamayīṃ dhiyam |
tadbhāvaikamayīmanyāmāśu tatraiva paśyati || 41 ||

When a living person quits one body for another, he carries with him the same mind into the other that he had in the prior one, and sees the same things in its thoughts, which he was accustomed to look upon before.
