The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पृथ्व्यादेर्घनपिण्डत्वसर्गादेः किं च कारणम् ।
किं कारणमविद्यायाः कारणं किं स्वयंभुवः ॥ ३१ ॥

pṛthvyāderghanapiṇḍatvasargādeḥ kiṃ ca kāraṇam |
kiṃ kāraṇamavidyāyāḥ kāraṇaṃ kiṃ svayaṃbhuvaḥ || 31 ||

Say what can be the cause of the solidity of the earth, and the rarity of air; what is the cause of our universal ignorance, and what is the cause of the self born Brahma.
