The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

सर्गादौ कारणाभावाद्यद्यथा कचितं चितौ ।
तत्तथास्ते चिरं रूपं स्वप्नसंकल्पपूर्यथा ॥ २५ ॥

sargādau kāraṇābhāvādyadyathā kacitaṃ citau |
tattathāste ciraṃ rūpaṃ svapnasaṃkalpapūryathā || 25 ||

In the beginning there was no cause of creation, or creative agent of the world; it is only an ideal of the Divine Mind, and exists for ever in the same state, as a vision in the dream or an airy castle of imagination.
