The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

तत्सुषुप्तात्मनो दृश्यादिति तद्व्यपदेशतः ।
सुषुप्तदृश्यं किं वक्षि वद मे वदतां वर ॥ १३ ॥

vyādha uvāca |
tatsuṣuptātmano dṛśyāditi tadvyapadeśataḥ |
suṣuptadṛśyaṃ kiṃ vakṣi vada me vadatāṃ vara || 13 ||

The huntsman rejoined:—Tell me sir, how is it possible for the Intellect to have the sight of anything in its state of sound sleep, since dreams never occur in the mind except in the state of slight and light sleep.
