यदा स्वकर्मणि स्पन्दे व्यग्रः प्राणो भृशं भवेत् ।
तदा तदीहितव्यग्रः प्राणो नात्मोद्यमी भवेत् ॥ १२ ॥

yadā svakarmaṇi spande vyagraḥ prāṇo bhṛśaṃ bhavet |
tadā tadīhitavyagraḥ prāṇo nātmodyamī bhavet || 12 ||

When the respiration is quick in discharging the duties of the body, and the mind is engaged in its busy thoughts, then neither of them [is] capable of meditation, unless they are repressed in the breast.
