Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.139.10

एवं यन्मनसाभ्यस्तमुपलब्धं तथैव तत् ।
तेन मे जीवितं प्राणा इति प्राणे मनः स्थितम् ॥ १० ॥

evaṃ yanmanasābhyastamupalabdhaṃ tathaiva tat |
tena me jīvitaṃ prāṇā iti prāṇe manaḥ sthitam || 10 ||

Hence any thought which is habitual to the mind, comes to be firmly impressed upon it in time;and hence the idea that the vital breath is one's life and all, makes his mind dependent upon the breath.
