The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

तरत्तरलमातङ्गतरङ्गौघविघट्टिताः ।
अत्यजन्तो निजं धैर्यं वेलावरतटा इव ॥ १४ ॥

tarattaralamātaṅgataraṅgaughavighaṭṭitāḥ |
atyajanto nijaṃ dhairyaṃ velāvarataṭā iva || 14 ||

The loose and loud surges of the sea, resembled the loosened elephants in the battle field; and though they dashed against the shore with all their force; yet they were unable to break them down, as the elephants are baffled in their attempt to break down a stone built rampart.
