The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

तदा तत्रैव ते वासभूमिं कृत्वा यथाक्रमम् ।
तस्थुर्मण्डलमर्यादां स्थापयामासुरक्षताम् ॥ २ ॥

tadā tatraiva te vāsabhūmiṃ kṛtvā yathākramam |
tasthurmaṇḍalamaryādāṃ sthāpayāmāsurakṣatām || 2 ||

They then chose spots for their abodes at that place, and made houses for themselves according to their positions; they settled the boundaries of the provinces, and set guards for their defence.
