The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

लोकेनायं मृत इति ततो बाष्पसंपूरिताक्षं शावीं पूजां विरचितवता संचयीकृत्य दारु ।
दग्धुं नीतोऽस्म्यतिभयमहं प्रज्वलच्चित्यनन्तप्रोद्यत्स्फोटस्फुटपटपटारावरौद्रं श्मशानम् ॥ ९ ॥

lokenāyaṃ mṛta iti tato bāṣpasaṃpūritākṣaṃ śāvīṃ pūjāṃ viracitavatā saṃcayīkṛtya dāru |
dagdhuṃ nīto'smyatibhayamahaṃ prajvalaccityanantaprodyatsphoṭasphuṭapaṭapaṭārāvaraudraṃ śmaśānam || 9 ||

I was borne away to be burnt on a dreadful funeral pile, which was horribly crackling with the cracking wood, of the blazing fire on the burning ground.
