The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

आवर्तवलिताकारः सीकरोत्करकीर्णदिक् ।
पूर्णत्वात्तु शिरोऽशक्तो म्रियतेऽत्युत्करः करी ॥ १४ ॥

āvartavalitākāraḥ sīkarotkarakīrṇadik |
pūrṇatvāttu śiro'śakto mriyate'tyutkaraḥ karī || 14 ||

There is an elephant fallen in a whirlpool, and being unable to raise itself from the same, it left its proboscis on the water, and dies with sputtering the water from snout on all sides.
