The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.111.41

मृतहस्त्यश्वयोधौघजीर्णपर्णनिरन्तरः ।
पिष्टदेहवसामांसपङ्कसंजातकर्दमः ॥ ४१ ॥

mṛtahastyaśvayodhaughajīrṇaparṇanirantaraḥ |
piṣṭadehavasāmāṃsapaṅkasaṃjātakardamaḥ || 41 ||

The dead bodies of horses, elephants and warriors, lay prostrate on the ground liken the fallen leaves of trees; and the rotten flesh and fat of the bruised carcasses, were trodden down to mud and mire in the field.
