The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

सर्वतोहेतिवहनात्समक्षप्रेक्षकोज्झितम् ।
वर्जितं भीरुभिः पक्षिराजवृन्दमिवाहिभिः ॥ ३९ ॥

sarvatohetivahanātsamakṣaprekṣakojjhitam |
varjitaṃ bhīrubhiḥ pakṣirājavṛndamivāhibhiḥ || 39 ||

The lookers were flying away, from the flying darts all about, in order to save their heads; just as the timid snakes hide themselves, for fear of the devouring phoenix, darting upon them from the sky.
