The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

संविन्नरोऽमरो नागः संवित्स्थावरजंगमम् ।
भावाभावादयोऽस्याब्धेस्तरङ्गावर्तवृत्तयः ॥ ६ ॥

saṃvinnaro'maro nāgaḥ saṃvitsthāvarajaṃgamam |
bhāvābhāvādayo'syābdhestaraṅgāvartavṛttayaḥ || 6 ||

The conscious soul is immortal, O Rama, and is not of the form of a rock or tree or any animal; consciousness is a mere vacuum, and all being and not being.
