The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.99.17

यादृगस्माकमीत्यर्थक्रमसंसारपातिनाम् ।
पदार्थवेदनं तादृक्तिरश्चां भ्रान्तमभ्रमम् ॥ १७ ॥

yādṛgasmākamītyarthakramasaṃsārapātinām |
padārthavedanaṃ tādṛktiraścāṃ bhrāntamabhramam || 17 ||

And as we mortals on earth, have our knowledge of things—padartha-vedana, and the sagacity of forsaking a famine stricken place for our welfare else where; so it is with the bending brutes and birds, to emigrate from lands of scarcity to those of plenty.
