The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.96.35

तच्चेतनं चेन्म्रियते तज्जनाः प्रत्यहं मृताः ।
ब्रूत किं न मृता यूयं तन्मृतं किल चेतनम् ॥ ३५ ॥

taccetanaṃ cenmriyate tajjanāḥ pratyahaṃ mṛtāḥ |
brūta kiṃ na mṛtā yūyaṃ tanmṛtaṃ kila cetanam || 35 ||

Should the intelligent soul be liable to death, then it is dead with the dying people every day; tell me then how ye live and [are] not already dead, with the departed souls of others?
