Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

ततश्चिदाकाशवपुर्व्याप्यनन्तो निरामयः ।
दत्तावधानो वपुषि तदा पश्याम्यहं क्वचित् ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
tataścidākāśavapurvyāpyananto nirāmayaḥ |
dattāvadhāno vapuṣi tadā paśyāmyahaṃ kvacit || 1 ||

Vasishtha continued:—Afterwards as I directed my attention to my own body for a while; I saw the undecaying and infinite spirit of God.
