The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.80.52

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
स पार्थिवपदार्थानां स्थितः पुष्करपत्रवत् ।
भागस्तमेवाधावन्ति ते सुता मातरं यथा ॥ ५२ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
sa pārthivapadārthānāṃ sthitaḥ puṣkarapatravat |
bhāgastamevādhāvanti te sutā mātaraṃ yathā || 52 ||

Vasishtha replied:—All earthly things are upheld by the earth, as the waters support the leaves of lotuses upon them; and every part depends upon the whole, as a babe depends upon its mother.
