The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.80.36

पातालमिव पानीयं सर्पो बिलमिव क्षणात् ।
पञ्चवायुरिवाकाशमविशत्तन्मुखं जवात् ॥ ३६ ॥

pātālamiva pānīyaṃ sarpo bilamiva kṣaṇāt |
pañcavāyurivākāśamaviśattanmukhaṃ javāt || 36 ||

The waters then enter into the infernal regions, as snakes enter in the holes beneath the ground; and the diluvian winds entered into his mouth, in the form of the five vital airs; just as the winds of heaven have their recess in hollow sky.
