The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.80.28

रुद्रस्य तस्य ते नेत्रसंनिवेशेन संस्थिताः ।
त्रिशूलं तेन त्रैलोक्यं गृहीतं करकोटरे ॥ २८ ॥

rudrasya tasya te netrasaṃniveśena saṃsthitāḥ |
triśūlaṃ tena trailokyaṃ gṛhītaṃ karakoṭare || 28 ||

The trident of Rudra is the symbol of his sceptre, and it is held in his hand, to imply his having the dominion of the three worlds under his hold.
