Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

यान्तर्वेत्ति यथा संवित्सा तथानुभवत्यलम् ।
अस्तु सत्यमसत्यं वा सिद्धमित्यनुभूतितः ॥ ३१ ॥

yāntarvetti yathā saṃvitsā tathānubhavatyalam |
astu satyamasatyaṃ vā siddhamityanubhūtitaḥ || 31 ||

Whatever a man thinks or knows in himself, he supposes the same as true at all times; and whether his persuasion be right or wrong, he knows it [to be] correct to the best of his belief.
