The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

चन्दनं दग्धमप्यासीदानन्दायैव जीवताम् ।
न कदाचन संयाति वस्तूत्तममवस्तुताम् ॥ ५३ ॥

candanaṃ dagdhamapyāsīdānandāyaiva jīvatām |
na kadācana saṃyāti vastūttamamavastutām || 53 ||

Burn the sandal wood, yet it will diffuse its fragrance to all living beings; because the intrinsic nature of a thing, is never lost or changed into another state.
